Nano-electro-mechanics

We study theoretical aspects of the nanomechanical electron shuttle. This research is carried out in collaboration with the experimental group of Prof. J. P. Kotthaus in Munich, Germany, that of Prof. R. H. Blick in Wisconsin, USA, and Dr. A. Erbe in Constance, Germany.

Nanomechanical electron shuttle

  • The nanomechanical electron shuttle. For details, see
    Phys. Rev. Lett. 87, 096106 (2001).
  • Results include periodic field emission from an isolated nano-scale island. For details, see
    Phys. Rev. Lett. 93, 186801 (2004).
  • One of our projects was a realistic model for self-oscillations. For details, see
    New J. Phys. 7, 240 (2005).
  • Currently, motivated by experiments in Munich from 2008, the focus lies on a periodically driven shuttle.
